ThePosition
The Allied Health Professions (AHPs) Lead is an exciting new role, created to strengthen and develop the leadership framework for AHPs delivering adult services within Orkney’s Health and Social Care Partnership. This pivotal position is designed to empower AHP teams to provide high‑quality, person‑centred care to the adult population across Orkney, including both the mainland and our outer isles.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership for AHP services across The Balfour and community settings.
- Drive service improvement and champion innovation in clinical practice.
- Support integration of services and promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams to uphold NHS Orkney’s values of openness, respect and kindness.
- Contribute to service planning, quality improvement and the delivery of person‑centred care.
- Registered Allied Health Professional from one of the 14 recognised AHP professions.
- Experience at Clinical Lead or an equivalent senior level.
- Strong clinical expertise and understanding of adult AHP services at The Balfour and in community settings.
- Proven ability to motivate, develop multidisciplinary teams and drive service innovation.
- Commitment to NHS Orkney’s values of openness, respect and kindness.
Post base:
The Balfour
Full time – 37 hours per week (36 hours from 1 April 2026 pro rata)
Permanent – condition: live and remain resident within the UK for the post.
Benefits and SalarySalary:
Band 8a. Residents on Orkney receive a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,657 pro rata per annum. NHS Orkney also offers an attractive pension scheme, work‑life balance policies, an employee assistance programme and various discounts.
