Public Dental Officer

Remuneration

PDO £54,117 - £81,174 (pro rata)

Plus Distant Islands Allowance £1,406 pro rata

30 hours per week

Benefits

A generous relocation package available up to £8,000.

Allowances Payable:

  • Distant Islands Allowance of £1,406 per annum/pro rata
  • Remote Areas Allowance: £4,500 per annum/pro rata for years 1–3; £9,000 per annum/pro rata for years 3+
  • Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £25,000 paid over 2 years (subject to eligibility as set out in PCA (D) (2022)2)
  • Out of Hours Allowance and on‑call payment for undertaking on‑call duties
  • Up to 33 days annual leave per annum plus 8 public holidays (dependent on NHS service)
Responsibilities

Provide dental care to priority group patients, particularly children and adults who require additional support, in static clinical environments as well as care homes and other domiciliary settings.

Travel to additional locations on the Uists and other islands as needed, with travel and accommodation expenses covered.

Deliver a range of treatments in sometimes challenging environments, meeting complex patient needs.

Qualifications & Competence

Clinical skills and competency necessary to provide a range of treatments within challenging environments.

Register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme).
