Position
Registered Nurse
.
- Deliver and maintain a high standard of nursing care, ensuring a safe and well‑managed patient environment at all times.
- Take charge of shifts in the absence of the senior nurse, coordinating and managing nursing care.
- Provide evidence‑based, patient‑centred care in line with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and all relevant local and national legislation.
- Demonstrate leadership within the nursing team, guiding junior staff and acting as a role model in clinical practice.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of own clinical skills and supervise, teach and assess student nurses, junior colleagues and unregistered staff.
- Registered Nurse (or awaiting NMC registration).
- Experience in acute and/or medical nursing.
- Up‑to‑date statutory training and a solid understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Clear awareness of confidentiality, infection prevention and control, and maintaining safe, effective care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent observational ability and effective teamwork.
- Proactive approach with initiative, time‑management and prioritisation skills in a fast‑paced setting.
- IT literate and confident in maintaining accurate clinical records.
- Flexible to working patterns including day and night shifts over a seven‑day rota.
- Calm, professional manner, approachable attitude and effective listening skills.
- Based at The Balfour
, NHS Orkney. - Full time, 36 hours per week.
- Permanent position; a condition of employment is that the applicant lives and remains a resident within the UK.
- Band 5 salary, plus a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,719 pro‑rata per annum for residents of Orkney.
