Objective

This position is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for resins, polymers, and molding‑related materials, balancing quality, cost, and delivery performance to support production and innovation goals. It also manages supplier relationships, drives continuous improvement in supply chain performance, collaborates cross‑functionally with internal stakeholders to forecast demand, negotiate contracts, and mitigate supply risks, and mentors junior buyers.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for plastic resins (thermoplastics, thermosets, filled compounds) and injection/blow/rotational services.
  • Lead contract negotiations with global and regional suppliers; pricing, terms & conditions, volume commitments, performance/service agreements.
  • Monitor resin & molding market trends (feed stocks, supply/demand, pricing, sustainability), and provide insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with B&L procurement policies, ethics, regulatory/sustainability standards (e.g. recycled content, circular economy, REACH/ROHS, ISO 9001/13485, etc.).
  • Collaborate with engineering, R&D, production, and quality teams on new product introduction (NPI), changeovers, molding material qualification, and cost improvement projects.
  • Lead projects for assigned categories.
  • Deliver established cost savings targets through competitive bidding and negotiate supplier service agreements; manage all supply‑based costs and ensure contract compliance.
  • Control and mitigate supplier‑related risks, cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Perform all sourcing and procurement activities for major initiatives: stakeholder requirement analysis, bidder list identification, RFP/RFQ development, competitive bid events, supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, risk mitigation, supply continuity, and supplier performance.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers to align with B+L’s goals.
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively across functional teams.
  • Demonstrate motivation, self‑drive, determination to succeed, and ability to manage change.
  • Apply an analytical mindset, leveraging data and market insights to drive decision‑making; remain open to new ideas and continuous learning.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production capabilities, and capacity.
Qualifications
  • MRP experience, vendor relationships, and critical thinking abilities.
  • 5+ years procurement experience in manufacturing for plastic resins, molding services or similar direct materials; experience in manufacturing environment (e.g., injection/blow/rotational) preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office:
    Excel & Word.
  • Math and analytical skills to analyze and interpret supplier quotes, contracts, and other supplier‑related issues.
  • Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Experience with contract negotiations, supplier development, global sourcing.
  • Knowledge of plastics/resins market (raw material trends, filler compounds, regulatory/sustainability issues) is a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (10‑20% typical) for supplier visits, audits, etc.
  • AS400 experience (preferred).
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred but not required).
