UX Engineer Level 2

We are seeking an experienced UX Engineer Level 2 to join our team supporting a major New York State (NYS) technology initiative
. The ideal candidate will bring strong UX engineering, user research, design thinking, and front-end development experience, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, developers, and technical teams.

The UX Engineer Level 2 will work as part of a team of problem solvers to understand business goals, identify user needs, and develop user-centered technology solutions.

The consultant will support the full UX lifecycle—from user research and journey mapping through wire framing, prototyping, usability testing, implementation, and ongoing application support.

Experience working within an Integrated Eligibility System (IES) program or a Health and Human Services (HHS) environment is highly desirable.

• Collaborate with team members, business stakeholders, and technical teams to understand business objectives and solve complex business problems.
• Design, develop, and implement client-facing and internal applications supporting NYS strategic initiatives.
• Apply enterprise architecture concepts across application areas to develop delivery models that align technology capabilities with NYS business needs.
• Gather and analyze information from multiple sources, incorporating stakeholder perspectives into UX solutions and recommendations.
• Address application defects and enhancements throughout the application support lifecycle.
• Participate in incident resolution and post-implementation support activities as required.
• Develop and execute user research plans, including:
  • Surveys
  • User interviews
  • Focus groups
  • Other qualitative and quantitative research methods
• Analyze user research findings and communicate results and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Plan and facilitate design-thinking workshops, including:
  • Journey mapping
  • User needs modeling
  • Persona development
  • Other collaborative UX activities
• Create UX deliverables including:
  • User models and scenarios
  • User stories
  • User flows
  • Wireframes
  • Interactive prototypes
  • Mockups
  • Storyboards
  • Sitemaps
  • Journey maps
• Plan and conduct usability testing.
• Analyze user feedback, behavioral data, and activity metrics to identify opportunities for improving the user experience.
• Iterate on designs based on research, testing, stakeholder feedback and quantitative UX metrics.
• Work closely with software developers to translate designs into functional applications.
• Assist with content development and information architecture.
• Develop and iterate on coded prototypes when needed to validate or improve UX solutions.
• Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative UX metrics to support usability validation and design decisions.
• Design experiences that work effectively across multiple devices and platforms, including:
  • Responsive web applications

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• 7+ years of professional experience working on complex technology projects.
• 2+ years of experience in a leadership role as a UX Engineer.
• 7+ years of experience in UI/UX engineering across the full lifecycle of UX design deliverables.
