These duties should be performed in alignment with the mission of Holy Redeemer Catholic School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities.
- Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, recess fields, and gymnasiums.
- Tutors and assists children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
- Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
- Follows assigned duties from classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
- Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
- Observes students' performance, and records relevant data to assess progress.
- Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
- Supervises scheduled recess times for students.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- Strong command of both written and spoken English language.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Employment is contingent on the applicant passing a full background check.
- Upon employment individual will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. College or Degree a plus.
- Related experience in similar position is preferred.
- Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings.
- Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church.
- Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
- Ability to lift at least 15 pounds.
- Physical demands include balancing, carrying, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, sitting, standing, reaching, stooping, talking and walking.
- Also includes the ability to see items close.
