Salary Range: $14.50 - $15.00 Hourly

Job Summary: The On-Call classroom substitute supports and supervises students in the event that one of the classroom team members is absent.

• Perform classroom staff member duties in their absence.
• Follow direction of the teacher/acting teacher including following lesson plans to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each student.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom including in the halls, on the playground, cafeteria and car line.
• Implement individual behavior plans as needed.
• Ensure and provide basic caregiving duties (utilizing universal health and safety precautions) for children, including, but not limited to feeding children, and cleaning children’s hands, faces, etc.
• Assist in communication with therapists and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Maintain positive staff and parent interactions.
• Ensure compliance with requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Training:

• Minimum – G.E.D or High School
• If subbing for PreK - 45 Hour Department of Children and Family Training within first 90 days.

Minimum Experience:

• 1 year or more childcare or classroom experience
• Prefer experience working with students with and without disabilities.
