Manager, Professional & Continuing Education

Oversees strategic goals for Accelerated Skills Training and Professional & Continuing Education programs at Valencia College, ensuring alignment with learning‑centered values while driving program performance, quality, and profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor program performance and revenue, ensuring offerings meet industry standards and best practices.
  • Communicate program needs and expectations, gather feedback, and recommend improvements to enhance quality and profitability.
  • Contribute to curriculum development by establishing program advisory boards and hosting bi‑annual sessions to keep content current with industry standards and certification partners.
  • Manage the student experience by supporting an inclusive, engaging, safe, and effective learning environment and resolving issues involving students, employers, and staff.
  • Secure and support training for partners by designing solutions, drafting agreements, scheduling instructors, and sharing feedback to clients.
  • Track and achieve program performance goals, including certification exam pass rates, enrollment, completion, placement, and financial targets.
  • Evaluate program outcomes with instructors, students, staff, and recruiters to improve effectiveness and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and evaluation of program staff and instructors.
  • Collaborate with the Recruiting and Job Placement Team to develop recruitment and placement strategies and build new partner relationships.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with community and industry partners, vendors, and stakeholders to support student success and program growth.
  • Qualifications
    • Proven ability to coach employees on performance and lead teams effectively.
    • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities.
    • Proactive problem‑solver with sound judgment and attention to detail.
    • Skilled in building partnerships and collaborating with business, industry, and community organizations.
    • Experience in program or project management, ideally in continuing education, adult learning, or workforce training; familiarity with advanced manufacturing/trades.
    • Experience in non‑profit, community development, or workforce‑related initiatives a plus; thrives in fast‑paced environments.
    • Strong technical knowledge of workforce programs, responsibility for CNC machining and Welding programs.
    • Hold relevant industry certifications related to CNC machining, welding, or manufacturing technologies.
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Knowledge of workplace learning, training, and development.
    • Knowledge of adult learning principles and how to apply them.
    • Ability to coach employees on performance.
    • Detail‑oriented; able to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to maintain accurate records of finances, student information, and program results.
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to proactively solve problems and make evaluative judgments.
    • Ability to communicate and collaborate with business, industry, and community partners.
    • Ability to conduct research, make recommendations, and create mutually successful solutions.
    • Proficient in technical, audio‑visual, and computer skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.

    • This position will operate in a fully on‑site environment.
