The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for providing the highest quality patient care in scheduling all surgical procedures, obtaining referrals and medical clearances, and managing computer tasks. The role requires strong communication skills for interacting with staff, management, and patients. Though the days may be long and busy, the results are well worth the effort.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Obtain demographic information, including insurance verification
- Schedule all ophthalmic surgical procedures per physician direction
- Obtain referrals for procedures and required medical clearances
- Explain consent forms and obtain patient signatures
- Collect co‑pays and upcoming payments as necessary
- Process incoming faxes, scan documents into patient charts, and send for medical review
- Send office notes and scheduling updates to referring physicians
- Communicate frequently with clinical/optical teams
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High School Graduate or equivalent education
- Minimum of two (2) years of surgery scheduling experience нашего preferred; ophthalmology experience preferred
- Certified Patient Service Specialist (CPSS)’? certification preferred
- Demonstrated effectiveness showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamwork
- Strong interpersonal skills (effective listening, clear communication, customer problem resolution, warm demeanor)
- Ability to master ophthalmology terminology and understand HIPAA confidentiality
- Enthusiastic and interested in required duties
- Outgoing personality with professional demeanor
- Desire to learn and think critically
