Senior Accountant

Location: Waterloo

Our client, a well-established Canadian manufacturer and retailer with over 75 years of experience, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their in-house finance team. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the Controller and offers the opportunity to step into a visible, hands-on position within a growing organization.
This role blends ownership of core accounting functions with involvement in meaningful business and systems initiatives. The ideal candidate is a new CPA or close to designation who is proactive, business-minded, and eager to grow beyond routine accounting tasks. Responsibilities:

• Own the accuracy and integrity of financial records end to end
• Lead account reconciliations and proactively resolve discrepancies
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Translate financial results into clear, actionable business insights
• Own job cost accounting and identify margin risks and opportunities
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
• Identify control gaps and lead process and system improvements
• Review accounts receivable and lead follow-ups and collections
• Build ad-hoc reporting to support management decision-making

Qualifications:

• CPA designation completed or close to completion (required)
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong accounting foundation gained through hands-on experience
• Experience in industry or small to mid-sized firms preferred
• Prior experience with Net Suite is an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
