Thyssen Mining is currently seeking an EIT (Engineer in Training) to work in the capacity of a Project Coordinator. This is a camp FI/FO position located in Ontario, and working on a 2 x 2 rotation.

The Project Coordinator/EIT is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of mining projects from inception to completion. This role ensures that mining operations run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry regulations. The coordinator works closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other team members to ensure that timelines, budgets, and project goals are met. This role is vital for the efficient and safe execution of mining projects.

The Project Coordinator will be integral in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES PROJECT COORDINATION
  • Assist in the development and management of mining project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and adherence to deadlines.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of mining projects, including logistics, procurement, and personnel management.
  • Monitor project progress, identify delays, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide project updates and address issues or concerns.
BUDGET AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets, ensuring costs remain within established parameters.
  • Manage project resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel, ensuring their availability and efficient use.
  • Assist with the monitoring of expenditures, tracking of costs, and preparing of regular financial reports.
DOCUMENTATION AND REPORTING
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, reports, and daily logs.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, project updates, and other necessary documentation to project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the submission of regulatory reports and ensure that all required permits and licenses are obtained and renewed.
TEAM COLLABORATION AND SUPERVISION
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, administration, procurement and management departments.
  • Supervise and coordinate with clients, contractors and subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Resolve conflicts or issues that may arise among project team members or stakeholders.
QUALITY CONTROL
  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality standards and comply with the specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections of mining activities and ensure that work meets industry best practices.
  • Keep a record of standards and controls.
SKILLS &ABILITIES
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Technical and Analytical background.
  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and MS Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with drafting software, such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Deswik, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of local mining regulations and industry standards.
  • Previous Mining background is a definite asset.
  • Competitive wages depending on experience $32/hr plus a hourly production bonus
  • Fly-In / Fly-Out rotation (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off), travel booked by Thyssen

Minimum of 8+ years of experience within the mining industry.
