Secondary Technological Education Teachers

Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) serves approximately 65,000 students in 123 schools, as well as alternative and continuing education sites. In Ontario, you must be certified by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) to teach in the province’s publicly funded schools. Eligible applicants include:

• Teachers with an OCT Certificate of Qualification and Registration (CQR)

• Teachers with an OCT Transitional Certificate (TCQR) or Multi-Session Transitional Certificate (MTCQR)

• Students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education (or equivalent) program who have successfully completed at least two practicum placements and are within 1 year of their expected graduation date.

Only candidates with the qualifications below will be considered. Please do not apply to this posting unless you meet both of the following requirements:

• Teaching Qualifications in Grades 9 and 10 and Grades 11 and 12, or will have these qualifications upon graduation from a Bachelor of Education (or equivalent) program

• At least one Technological Education qualification in any of the following areas:
  Communications, Computer, Construction, Green Industries, Hair Styling and Aesthetics, Health Care, Hospitality and Tourism, Manufacturing, Technological Design, and Transportation.

• Practice Teaching Reports or most recent Teacher Performance Appraisal

• Reference Letters (optional)

The Board continues to engage candidates in different methods of interviewing. This may include, but is not limited to, a one-way video interview or a video-conference interview. Offers will be conditional upon confirmation of qualifications and confirmation of Good Standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).

If you are a current Secondary Occasional Teacher with the WRDSB you do not need to apply to this posting. Individuals are not permitted to be on both the WRDSB Secondary Occasional Teacher Roster and the WRDSB Elementary Occasional Teacher Roster. Candidates successful to both positions will need to select either the Elementary or the Secondary OT Roster.
