D. This role is open to both WRDSB employees and external applicants, focusing on providing essential support to special needs students.
Waterloo Region District School Board serves around 65,000 students across 123 schools. Candidates will need to pass a Physical Demands test and have relevant qualifications or experience in child support, especially with special needs. This is a crucial role aimed at enhancing student achievement and well-being through collaborative support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with special needs and behavioral disabilities
• Assist teachers in creating inclusive learning environments
• Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students
• Participate in training sessions and development workshops
• Maintain communication with parents and staff about student progress
Requirements:
• Educational Assistant Diploma or equivalent
• One year of related work experience with special needs
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Ability to pass the Physical Demands test
• Assets include Behaviour Management Systems certification
