Structural Engineering Intern/co‑op at AECOM, Kitchener, ON – On‑site

Responsibilities

Structural modelling with Midas Civil

On‑site structure inspections

Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Micro Station

Shop drawing review

Inspect all phases of construction to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with specifications regarding material requirements, alignment, grade, finish, compaction, etc.

Document site conditions, equipment, material installations, quantities and the work being performed by the contractor

Confirm that all onsite testing during installation is in conformance with the contract specifications

Ensure deficiencies are corrected prior to acceptance of the work

Ensure overall data quality and integrity

Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

Undertake quality control procedures

Assure that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follow up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts

Minimum Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with intent to continue attendance following the internship

Completed 2 years of study

Preferred Qualifications

Interest in roads and bridges

Previous bridge engineering co‑op experience

Structural modeling experience

Field experience

Benefits
Compensation: $25–$27 per hour, based on location and individual qualifications.
