Structural Engineering Intern​/co-op

Job Description
Structural Engineering Intern/co‑op to be based in Kitchener, ON. Newly created position.

Responsibilities

Structural modelling with Midas Civil

On‑site structure inspections

Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Micro Station

Shop drawing review

Inspect all phases of construction to ensure work is carried out in accordance with specifications regarding material requirements, alignment, grade, finish, compaction, etc.

Document site conditions, equipment, material installations, quantities and the work performed by the Contractor

Confirm all onsite testing during installation is in conformance with the Contract Specifications

Ensure deficiencies are corrected prior to acceptance of the work

Ensure overall data quality and integrity

Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

Undertake quality control procedures

Assure that engineering‑related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follow up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with the intent to continue attendance following the internship.

Completed 2 years of study

Preferred Qualifications

Interest in Roads and Bridges

Previous Bridge Engineering Co‑op experience

Structural modeling experience

Field experience
