We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and safety orientated individual for the
Industrial Electrician
position. The Industrial Electrician performs planned maintenance, unplanned maintenance, new equipment installations, and retrofits within a chemical plant environment. The successful applicant works safely and can work well independently as well within a multidisciplinary team. The individual also has strong critical thinking ability during troubleshooting situations.

Job Description
  • Work safely in a chemical plant environment as part of a team, or in an individual setting, complying with all LANXESS safety procedures and standards to complete planned and unplanned electrical tasks as scheduled or assigned, including servicing, repairing or overhauling electrical equipment
  • Plan, install and test according to recognized electrical practices and in compliance with the Ontario Hydro Electrical Standards, within a variety of apparatus, control equipment, wiring and power equipment for light and power systems
  • Coordinate Electrical jobs with other crafts, work groups and contractors
  • Work with Production & Maintenance to obtain, verify, and sign permits
  • Compliant with site behavioral standards, only the highest ethical and behavioral standards will be maintained on the site. Help build and encourage positive behavior within the group (safety, quality, cleanliness)
  • Work schedules may include overtime or available on call from time to time (pager on a five week rotation) and is an expectation for employment
  • Responsible for craft compliance to all LANXESS Procedures and Standards
  • Provide feedback/review on all I&E Job Plans, Work Procedures, Quality Standards, MI Procedures
  • Work with other maintenance staff to develop short term work plans & PM schedules
  • Enter Time Confirmations and Materials against Work Orders on all jobs
  • Complete training as per site schedules and requirements
Experience / Skills
  • A valid Ontario Electrician’s license (309A or 442A Industrial Electrician)
  • Experience with safety permitting systems
  • Can read and interpret manuals and drawings (e.g. blueprints, schematics, technical drawings)
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing preferred
  • As part of maintenance coverage for the plant, this role will be required to be on call every fifth weekend
  • Familiar and comfortable with computers and tablets for data entry, and work order processing
  • Be familiar, and comfortable working with programs such as excel, word, and SAP

The Elmira site is also home to a pilot plant, which is used by our scientists and engineers to develop and test new products and production processes.

Situated on 75 acres (of which 22 acres are used for operations), the manufacturing facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our hourly employees are represented by the United Steelworkers Union.

Both sites (Elmira and West Hill) are registered under the ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management standards.
