Location: WaterlooWe, at Northfield Metal Products, a Division of Leggett & Platt, are searching for a Mold Maker to join our Toolroomteam to help support our Work Furniture business. As a Mold Maker, you will be contributing to our Work Furniture Components business. We design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the work and home furniture industry.

As a Mold Maker you will have the opportunity of fabricate, assemble, troubleshoot, and maintain molds used in manufacturing processes. Your contributions will have a direct impact as you will collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure molds function optimally in manufacturing and production environment. The team you will be working with has a long tenure and values collaboration.
So, what will you be doing as a Mold Maker?
Set up, operate, maintain machine tools (e.g. CNC mills, grinders, lathes, drill presses) to shape and assemble mold componentsInterpret and work from technical blueprints, CAD models, and design specifications to plan mold fabricationDisassemble, clean, inspect, and repair existing molds and tooling, performing corrective adjustments as neededPerform regular quality checks using precision measuring instruments to ensure molds meet tolerancesDocument fabrication and maintenance activities, maintain mold inventories, and update repair historiesUphold workplace safety and housekeeping standards, adhering to health, safety, and operational proceduresTo be successful in this role, you’ll need:
3+ years of hands-on-experience in mold-making, tool and die work, or mold maintenance roles.Post Secondary Education in Tool & Die Making, Precision Machining, CAD/Tool Design or related fieldCompletion of a recognized apprenticeship or certification programThings we consider a plus:
Practical experience in diagnosing mold defects, performing maintenance, and troubleshootingPrior work in a manufacturing setting, repairing and optimizing injections moldsDeep understanding of mold-making processes
