Role OverviewSenior Competitive Benchmarking Engineer – Product Marketing Organization. The role measures, validates, and communicates performance metrics on Elastic versus competitive products. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, developer relations, and marketing teams to position Elastic’s offerings effectively against competitors and keep the organization competitive in a dynamic market.
Responsibilities- Define benchmark methodologies and guidelines.
- Optimize each product to ensure equal testing conditions.
- Run benchmarks and analyze the results.
- Work with engineering and developer relations to validate approaches and results.
- Publish findings through technical blogs or white papers, providing resources for others to reproduce tests.
- 5+ years of software development experience with Python, Java, and Linux shell scripting.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems performance analysis (CPU, memory, disk I/O, network, latency, throughput).
- Experience conducting root‑cause analysis for performance issues in complex systems.
- Familiarity with benchmarking in Linux VMs and containerized environments.
- Experience writing about benchmarking results for external audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across geographically distributed teams.
- Experience building benchmarking frameworks, performance tooling, or automated test infrastructure.
- Experience with public cloud environments (AWS, GCP).
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or Terraform.
- Prior experience with Elasticsearch.
- Experience applying AI to expand benchmarking practices, improve benchmark design, or enhance tooling.

Compensation and BenefitsBase salary ranges from $122,300 to $172,300 CAD. The role does not have a variable compensation component. Employees may participate in Elastic’s stock program and receive a company‑matched Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with dollar‑for‑dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings.
