Position Summary  The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, and bulldozers, to support construction and materials operations. This role supports work across two locations, Elora and Myers, and requires the flexibility to travel and work at either site based on operational needs. As part of a crew, the Equipment Operator contributes to daily production targets, performs basic equipment maintenance, and supports general site activities while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
This is a seasonal, outdoor role that involves physically demanding work and extended hours, with typical shifts ranging from 10 to 12 hours during peak periods.
Responsibilities   Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, and dozers
Perform excavation, loading, trenching, back filling, and material handling as required
Feed and support crushing and screening operations where applicable
Complete daily equipment inspections, logs, and required documentation
Perform basic maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and minor repairs
Maintain site cleanliness and support general labour activities when needed
Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies and participate in hazard assessments
Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to coordinate work
Requirements   Must have:
Previous hands‑on experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or related environment
Valid G driver’s license with reliable transportation
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
Ability to work long hours during peak season (10 to 12 hour days)
Nice to have:
Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
Experience in construction, aggregates, or materials operations
Compensation  $29.75 – $33.01 per hour
