College, CEGEP or equivalent certificate/diploma, 1–2 years

Experience

Required:

1 year to less than 2 years

Must be able to work on site; no remote work available

Responsibilities

Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts

Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables

Repair machine tools and parts

Set up and adjust production machinery/tools

Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance

Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments

Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports

Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)

Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools

Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments

Specialized Skills

Measuring tools: micrometers, callipers, calibre

Equipment and machinery: automatic lathes, cylindrical grinders, drill presses, electro-chemical machine, lapping machine, milling machines, surface grinders, tapping machines, tool grinders, CNC machines, CAD

Work Conditions

Ability to work independently

Fast‑paced environment

Physically demanding: standing for extended periods; handling up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)
