Refinery Operator - Breslau

Clean Harbors in Breslau, Ontario, is currently looking for a Refinery Operator to join their safety‑conscious team. Refinery operators will be responsible for monitoring oil processing, adjusting and maintaining processing units and equipment in the plant while maintaining compliance with all safety and government regulations.

• Operate computerized control panel from a central control room to monitor and optimize physical and chemical processes for several processing units.
• Assess specifications and control the continuous operation of petroleum refining and processing units to produce products such as lubricating oils by methods such as distillation, absorption, extraction, adsorption, thermal and catalytic cracking.
• Read processing schedules, operating logs, test results of oil samples, and laboratory recommendations to determine changes in equipment controls required to produce specified quantity and quality of product.
• Move and position controls such as knobs, valves, switches, levers, and index arms on control panels to control process variables (flow, temperatures, pressures, vacuum, time, catalyst, and chemicals) by automatic regulation and remote control of processing units (e.g., heaters, furnaces, compressors, exchangers, reactors, fractionators, absorbers, strippers, and towers).
• Train staff as required.
• Actively engage and participate in safety audits/programs, including permit writing, inspection forms, etc.
• May be assigned additional duties not listed above based on business needs.

• Attention to detail.
• High school diploma plus specialized training or one year of college in science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• Fourth Class Stationary Engineer Certificate.
• Basic math knowledge.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of process equipment (pumps, motors, valves, piping, instrumentation).
• Computer skills.
• Emergency response experience.
