Full Description

Since 1969, Elmira Machine Industries (EMI) has been manufacturing high-quality vacuum pumps, fabricated components, and industrial products from our facility in Elmira, Ontario. Our Wallenstein (Wally) Vacuum Pumps are relied upon by customers across North America and around the world for their rugged construction, reliability, and performance.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled and dependable Component Welder to join our Production Team.

The Component Welder is responsible for fitting, welding, and finishing fabricated components and subassemblies used in our products and manufacturing operations. Working from engineering drawings and work orders, this position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality, production flow, and on-time delivery to our customers.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to build products in a stable manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings and work instructions.
  • Fit, tack, and weld steel components and assemblies.
  • Perform MIG welding to company quality standards.
  • Verify dimensions and inspect completed work.
  • Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely.
  • Complete work orders within established production schedules.
  • Work closely with production supervisors and team members.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work area.
  • Support continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence initiatives.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with MIG welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Good problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Reliable attendance and work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CWB welding certification.
  • Manufacturing or fabrication experience.
  • Experience with overhead cranes and material handling equipment.
  • Experience producing repeatable, high-quality weldments.
