Registered Nurse (RN)

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for collaborating with the Director of Care and the health care team to deliver resident care within their level of competency.

• Coordinate nursing and other services for residents within the neighbourhood and with other services within the residence.
• Lead shift report with members of the health care team, ensuring all team members are informed of changes in residents’ status.
• Record significant changes in residents’ condition and ensure documentation in the residents’ chart adheres to Age Care policies, procedures and relevant provincial standards.
• Review and process physician orders according to procedure, ensuring orders are implemented promptly.
• Communicate difficulties in processing physician orders to the Director of Care/Assistant Director of Care.

• Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing, including activation, nursing and personnel administration.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations, the relevant sections of the Health Disciplines Act, Occupation Health and Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food and Drugs Act (Canada), Controlled Substances Act (Canada), Health Promotion and Protection Act, Personal Health Protection Act, Coroners Act, Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice and other pertinent federal, provincial and municipal statutes.

Salary Range: $32.23 - $48.78 per hour (placement based on qualifications and experience).
