JOB SUMMARY:
The Business Development Representative is responsible for promoting D2L Products and Services, establishing customer relationships, and providing qualified, motivated leads to the Sales teams. As a key member of the sales team, the successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the company’s solutions, competition, and a keen interest in the eLearning industry. The primary market focus is the education and corporate sectors.
We are looking for an energetic, polished individual with exceptional communication skills and a talent for relationship building. The successful candidate will gain expertise in accurately capturing and qualifying leads, effectively managing a sales pipeline, and achieving quarterly revenue targets.

How will I make an impact?
Be a subject matter expert and an advocate amongst the team regarding prospecting strategies and CRM processesAct as a mentor within the team to help develop Bus Dev skills in othersAssist in training and onboarding new hiresContribute and maintain the BD team course in SparkDevelop effective sales kits for the Bus Dev team with Bus Dev leaders and MarketingResponsible for exceeding objectives within your assigned territoryAble to understand and deliver D2L's unique value proposition and create solution vision with prospectsActively participate in outbound calling campaigns to generate sales opportunitiesAccurately capture and qualify leads gathered from tradeshows, webinars, inbound calls, and other marketing initiativesFollow-up with existing D2L contacts and develop them into sales prospectsDistribute leads and make qualified appointments for Sales ExecutivesMonitor and respond to D2L Sales inbox and website inquiries – responding and re-directing incoming customer request for information, etc.Create and update lead generation emails and phone scriptsUpdate customer interactions through the CRM toolComplete sales reports and present findings to executive managementConduct market research and keep updated on product and industry knowledge, competitors, and industry knowledgeRepresent D2L at occasional tradeshows; some travel will be requiredWhat you’ll bring to the role:
1+ years experience in Business Development Previous experience in eLearning, the education sector, enterprise software and/or high tech solutions providers preferredInterest in pursuing a sales career within a fast-paced, constantly changing environmentPro-active and goal oriented with the ability to maintain consistent levels of customer activity to generate sales leads and meet achieve quarterly objectivesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and organize/prioritize work independentlyStrong interpersonal and customer orientation skills with the ability to influence decision makersDemonstrated ability to work individually and collaboratively within a team environmentDegree or diploma in Business, Marketing or relatedAI
Skills:
Experience using AI-powered sales engagement and CRM tools to optimize prospecting and outreach. Ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate email drafting, lead research, and outreach personalization. Comfortable interpreting AI-generated insights and using them to prioritize outreach and follow-up. Curious mindset with a passion for experimenting with tools that improve workflow efficiency, including AI-based solutions.The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below. The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.
