Security Officer

Job Description SUMMARY

Responsible for properly executing security duties on assigned shift to adequately provide safety for and property of customers, Team Members and the company’s property.

• Interact effectively with the public and Team Members.
• Perform excellent customer service at all times, providing positive greetings and farewells and opening doors for guests as necessary.
• Guard all transfers of monies and chips on the casino floor as well as the physical transportation of hopper fills, chip fills, and credits.
• Generate necessary written reports regarding security‑related incidents involving customers, Team Members and/or the facility.
• Escort and observe customers and Team Members to ensure their safety and protection; identify potential safety hazards and report them to the appropriate individual for resolution.
• Become familiar with hazardous materials used on property and all applicable laws, rules and regulations governing them.
• Act as a dispatcher during emergency situations, coordinate solutions, and inform outside agencies of any unusual or suspicious situations on property.
• Operate company vehicles as directed.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the company’s facilities and special events on property to advise customers and fellow Team Members whenever possible.
• Ensure safe transportation of company moneys and gaming tokens.
• Interact with guests and Team Members in a positive, professional manner.
• Ensure a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained.
• Facilitate the flow of information by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
• Maintain a series of keys, accessing locked areas as necessary.
• Accept identification from all persons who appear to be under the legal age to ensure compliance with state and federal gaming regulations.
• Assist valet & shuttle drivers if needed.
• Operate and respond to radio traffic.
• Assist with traffic flow.
• Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
• Perform any reasonable request made by management.
• Ushers as needed by management for events.

• Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED required. Minimum of one‑year experience in law enforcement or gaming security preferred.

  Qualifications:
  
  Excellent communication skills required. Must be able to speak on radio and answer radio traffic. Valid driver’s license required. Must be qualified to perform the duties of Bike Patrol when required.

  Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to guests and other Team Members.

• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense reasoning to a variety of situations and to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form.

Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to manipulate objects, and occasionally reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to lift and/or move up to fifty pounds regularly and up to one hundred pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Exposed to outside weather conditions. Noise level is moderate, increasing to loud on the casino floor. May be exposed to a smoke‑filled environment while on the casino floor.
