Position: Staff Frontend Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Frontend Engineer based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to define the technical direction of high-impact web experiences that drive user engagement and business growth. You will lead frontend architecture, build scalable consumer‑facing applications, and shape how teams experiment, measure, and improve digital experiences. Working at the intersection of engineering, growth, and product, you will help transform ideas into data-driven solutions that increase user adoption and revenue.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including marketing, growth, and conversion specialists while empowering them with better tools and workflows. As a senior technical leader, you will raise engineering standards, improve web performance, and guide long-term frontend strategy. This is an opportunity for a highly autonomous engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, influencing technical decisions, and creating meaningful impact at scale.

Accountabilities
  • Define and execute the frontend technical strategy for web properties, with a focus on growing user engagement and subscription revenue.
  • Build and maintain high-quality web applications using modern frontend technologies including Next.js, React, and Type Script.
  • Develop and optimise marketing sites, landing pages, paywalls, and conversion-focused experiences.
  • Partner with growth, marketing, sponsorship, and conversion teams to translate business hypotheses into effective experiments.
  • Enable non-engineering teams to independently launch and manage landing page updates, experiments, and content changes through scalable tooling.
  • Lead the evolution of marketing technology infrastructure, including page builders, experimentation platforms, analytics tools, and customer data integrations.
  • Improve web experimentation practices by defining hypotheses, measuring impact, analysing results, and scaling successful initiatives.
  • Establish best practices for web performance, accessibility, SEO, and Core Web Vitals across consumer-facing platforms.
  • Act as a senior technical contributor through architecture discussions, code reviews, mentorship, and engineering quality improvements.
  • Ensure safe production releases through feature flagging, monitoring, and risk management on revenue-critical systems.
  • Maintain reliable analytics instrumentation across the user funnel to support data-driven decision-making.
Requirements

The ideal candidate is a senior frontend engineer with strong technical leadership experience, a growth mindset, and a proven ability to build and optimise consumer-facing web products.

  • Demonstrated experience growing user engagement and revenue through web platforms, with measurable outcomes.
  • Deep expertise building production applications with Next.js, React, and Type Script.
  • Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture, performance optimisation, accessibility, SEO, and conversion-focused development.
  • Experience collaborating with growth, marketing, or conversion rate optimisation teams.
  • Proven experience designing and running web experimentation programmes, including A/B and multivariate testing.
  • Experience implementing self-service tools such as visual page builders, experimentation platforms, or content management solutions.
  • Familiarity with analytics and customer data platforms such as Post Hog, Amplitude, Segment, or similar tools.
  • Experience safely deploying production changes using feature flags, monitoring, and risk mitigation practices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to act as a senior technical voice across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and improve engineering practices.
  • Experience with subscription-based products, consumer applications, or media platforms is a strong advantage.
Benefits
  • Competitive, market-benchmarked compensation based on location and experience.
  • Fully remote-first work environment within Canada with flexibility across time zones.
  • Opportunity to attend in-person meetups and team gatherings.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage for employees and their families.
  • Professional development opportunities to support continuous learning and career growth.
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful products with real-world impact.
  • Collaborative environment that values creativity, autonomy, diverse perspectives, and innovation.
  • Chance to contribute to a mission-driven organisation focused on improving how people engage with information.
