Job Purpose
Reporting to the Transportation and Logistics Manager, the Delivery Program Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of food hampers to participants through the Home Delivery and After-Hours Locker programs. As the primary delivery resource for these growing programs, the role helps ensure reliable service, supports participant access to food assistance, and contributes to a positive participant experience.
When delivery activities are not required, the position provides operational support to the Transportation and Warehouse teams to maximize organizational efficiency and service capacity.
Responsibilities and Duties
EXAMPLES OF THE ROLE'S RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Delivering participant-centered food assistance through the Home Delivery and After-Hours Locker programs :
- Delivering food hampers to participants along scheduled routes for the Home Delivery and After-Hours Locker programs.
- Interacting directly with participants in a respectful, professional, and dignity-first manner.
- Ensuring deliveries are completed accurately, safely, and in accordance with food safety standards and organizational policies.
- Supporting the stocking, maintenance, and operation of After-Hours Locker locations.
- Maintaining confidentiality and applying trauma-informed, culturally aware communication practices when interacting with participants.
- Communicating participant concerns, delivery issues, or service barriers to the appropriate internal teams.
2. Providing operational support to transportation and warehouse functions as required :
- Assisting with warehouse operations, hamper preparation, and custom hamper packing when delivery activities are not scheduled.
- Supporting agency deliveries, donor pick-ups, mobile pantry operations, and other transportation activities.
- Providing support to operations during periods of increased demand, absences, or vacations.
3. Assisting with other tasks as needed to support team and organizational goals.
Specific examples may vary from year to year as priorities of The Food Bank change.
Location and Hours
- The Food Bank of Waterloo Region is located at 50 Alpine Court in Kitchener, Ontario.
- The role is required to be onsite for the work week.
- Hours of work are generally 8:30 am and 4:30 pm,Monday-Friday. However, as the program develops, there may be a need for occasional afternoon shifts (12-8 pm). Additionally, to meet the objectives of The Food Bank and commitments to our volunteers, members, and community, some irregular hours may be required. This would include no more than two evenings a week and/or two weekends a month.
Compensation
- The expected starting salary for this role is $50,854.00 per annum.
- The maximum compensation for this role is $61,792.50 per annum, which may be achieved through progression, performance, and tenure.
Reporting Structure and Working Relationships
- The Delivery Program Driver reports to the Transportation and Logistics Manager.
- This role is an integral part of our Operation steam.
- A significant amount of time in this role is spent working with members of the public and other members of The Food Bank.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in delivery services, transportation, warehouse operations, logistics, customer service, or a related field.
- A secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid Ontario DZ license with a clean driver’s abstract.
