Professional Community Planner

Become a key player in community development with the District of Kitimat as a Professional Community Planner. This role encompasses diverse planning tasks while supporting a growing population.
As a Planner I or II, you will work closely with the Director of Planning to fulfill both immediate and long-term planning objectives. You will be responsible for reviewing development permits and liaising with various stakeholders. This position also involves mentoring junior planners, contributing to a collaborative and innovative planning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and process development and zoning applications

• Assist in preparing planning recommendations and reports

• Conduct public consultations on land use and planning matters

• Research planning policies and community needs

• Represent planning interests at key meetings and forums
Requirements:

• University degree in community planning

• 3 years of experience for Planner II designation

• Proficient in planning software like GIS and Adobe Suite

• Valid Class 5/7N driver’s license

• Strong analytical and communication skills
