A Leading Marine Services company seeks a dedicated Chief Engineer to lead engineering operations, maintenance, and safety compliance for vessel operations in Kitimat, BC. This role involves managing the engine room, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring fleet readiness in one of the most complex maritime environments in the world.

• Lead the engineering watch and manage machinery spaces, safety systems, and anti‑pollution protocols.
• Oversee preventative maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns, manage dry‑dock activities, and test standby systems.
• Liaise with the Shore Engineering Team, manage external contractors, and maintain accurate records such as oil record books and logs.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct hazard assessments, and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

• Valid 2nd Class Transport Canada Marine Motor engineering certificate, MEDs, Marine Basic First Aid, and current marine medical certification.
• 5+ years as an engineering officer on vessels with a gross tonnage of 400 or more.
• Expertise in marine diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and proficiency in MS Office.
• Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work in tight spaces and handle physical demands.
• Candidates must be willing to apply for union membership with the Canadian Merchant Service Guild (Western Branch).

$73.22 – $77.13 per hour
