Take charge of engineering operations as a Chief Engineer for a Leading Marine Services company in Kitimat, British Columbia. This critical role emphasizes safety compliance, fleet readiness, and expert management within complex maritime conditions.

The Chief Engineer leads engineering operations, focusing on maintenance and safety for vessel operations. Your expertise will ensure efficient engine room management, mentoring junior staff, and adherence to environmental protocols. You will collaborate closely with the Shore Engineering Team and oversee preventive maintenance while ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering watch and machinery space management

• Oversee maintenance and troubleshoot machinery breakdowns

• Liaise with external contractors and maintain compliance logs

• Mentor junior engineers and conduct hazard assessments

• Manage safety systems and anti-pollution protocols

Requirements:

• Valid 2nd Class Transport Canada Marine Motor certificate

• Over 5 years as engineering officer on large vessels

• Expertise in marine diesel engines and hydraulic systems

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Willingness to apply for union membership
