Engineering Leadership:
Lead the engineering watch and manage machinery spaces, safety systems, and anti-pollution protocols.
Maintenance & Readiness:
Oversee preventative maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns, manage dry-dock activities, and test standby systems.
Operational Excellence:
Liaise with the Shore Engineering Team, manage external contractors, and maintain accurate records (Oil Record Books, logs).
Team & Safety:
Mentor junior engineers, conduct hazard assessments, and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
What you must have:
Certification:
Valid 2nd Class Transport Canada Marine Motor engineering certificate, MEDs, Marine Basic First Aid, and current marine medical.
Experience:
5+ years as an engineering officer on vessels (400+ gross tons).
Technical Proficiency:
Expertise in marine diesel engines, hydraulic/electrical systems, and MS Office.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work in tight spaces and handle physical demands.
Requirement:
Candidates must be willing to apply for union membership with the Canadian Merchant Service Guild (Western Branch).
Salary/Rate Range: $73.22 – $77.13/hour
