Duties Help
* You will establish parameters for types of instrumentation required.
* You will conduct evaluation and analysis of instrumentation currently in use.
* You will identify problem areas and recommend changes where appropriate.
* You will perform quality assurance assessments to document the accuracy of instrumentation results.
* You will perform technical Health Physics studies in support of the Radiation Health Program.
* You will act as the technical authority for troubleshooting health physics instrumentation resolving conflicting, controversial or inadequate data. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications For the GS-0840-11:
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Planning and preparing project designs and protocols for research and development work on methods, techniques, and work processes, ensuring compliance with existing regulations.
* Coordinating, monitoring, reviewing, and integrating efforts of engineers, consultants, physicists, mechanics and others.
* Applying comprehensive knowledge of nuclear engineering/health physics concepts, and principles, as well as administrative techniques to carry out a radiation health program.
* Using engineering and health physics sampling techniques and instrumentation to evaluate the magnitude of radiation health conditions.
* Writing comprehensive technical/scientific reports. For the GS-0840-09:
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Assisting with planning and preparing project designs and protocols for research and development work on methods, techniques, and work processes, ensuring compliance with existing regulations.
* Coordinating, monitoring, reviewing, and integrating efforts of engineers, consultants, physicists, mechanics and others.
* Applying knowledge of nuclear engineering/health physics concepts, and principles, as well as administrative techniques to carry out a radiation health program.
