SALES Associate; Minimart - Part-Time

Location: United States – Maine – Kittery

Schedule: Part‑time (20 – 34.5 hours per week)

Job Summary: Sells general merchandise to customers using professional selling techniques. Works as part of a sales team to provide service that anticipates and exceeds customer expectations. Assists in all aspects of ensuring full operation of the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar, including opening and closing, preparing, displaying, replenishing goods, and cleaning stations and equipment as necessary.

• Greets and engages customers in conversation for sales assistance.
• Assists in the selection of merchandise and suggests additional items to complement the customer’s selections.
• Offers customers the opportunity to purchase extended product warranties and explains coverage benefits and price.
• Interacts with customers and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner, adhering to NEX dress code and supporting sales team members.
• Becomes knowledgeable regarding merchandise, set‑up, use, care, characteristics, and pricing; communicates product information to customers.
• Ensures assigned areas are fully stocked and merchandise is neatly arranged; communicates with store manager regarding stock additions, deletions, and customer needs.
• Participates in department meetings and actively seeks to exchange ideas to improve customer service, job performance, and sales goals.
• Completes sales transactions efficiently and thanks customers for their patronage.
• Performs cash register transactions, including cash, charge, check, gift certificates, and layaways, in an accurate manner.
• Advises customers of upcoming sales events and available services (e.g., gift wrapping, engraving, delivery).
• Offers and informs customers about NEXCARD account benefits.
• Becomes knowledgeable in NEX store policies and functions, handles returns and problems consistently, and applies store policies to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintains high awareness of assigned areas and provides excellent customer service to deter theft.
• Unpacks stages, assists in creating store displays, and performs periodic inventories.
• Completes paperwork associated with merchandise inventory, price adjustments, returns, and cash register operations.
• Participates in commission and gain‑sharing sales incentive programs.
• Lifts up to 25 lbs. as required by job duties.
• Monitors temperature of refrigerators and freezers (minimum three times daily).
• Attends required food safety training sessions and refresher courses.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• No experience required.
• High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred.
