Security Specialist

You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the DEEP SUBMERGENCE SYSTEMS PROGRAM OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the DEEP SUBMERGENCE SYSTEMS PROGRAM OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

• You will ensure SCI is properly accounted for, controlled, transmitted, transported, packaged, and safeguarded.
• You will serve as the official channel for certifying and receiving SCI visitor clearances/accesses, conducts or otherwise manage SCI personnel, information, physical, and technical security actions and procedures.
• You will coordinate and operates with the DSSP Information System Security Manager (ISSM) on all matters related to the installation and maintenance of secure networks and associated terminals.
• You will be responsible for the review, evaluation and effectiveness of classification systems, devices, procedures, and methods used for safeguarding classified National Security Information and Controlled Unclassified Information within DSSP.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing
• This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification. Selectee must obtain and maintain certification within prescribed time frames. Certification required is: 24 months.
• This position requires rotating shift work.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience with implementing security programs and concepts
• Experience with applying analytical skills to evaluate security requirements and apply the appropriate security standards to any given problem or situation.
• Experience determining requirements for all security aspects including the procedures involved in security islands.
• Experience with interpreting DOD directives and instructions, SECNAV, OPNAV, and NAVSEA instructions and other directives pertinent to island security and other related security matters.
