Duties Help
* You will adjust controls for polarity, voltage, amperage, wire speed, gas and flux flow and when operating automatic equipment, aligns the tract or rail and positions the head assembly to conform to the geometry of the weld area.
* You will align and secures pieces to be welded using jigs, clamps or other devices and maintains alignment during operation by using the proper welding sequences.
* You will maintains pre-heat and interpass temperature requirements, cleans weld deposits by manual and/or pneumatically powered tools, which include hand grinders, needle guns and deburring machines to remove welding spatter and defects.
* You will observes and obeys fire safety and prevention rules and regulations, uses precaution against fire for personal safety and shop safety and maintains safety standards.
* You will direct fire-watchers, helpers and apprentices.
* You will operate plasma-arc cutting equipment manually and automatically.
* You will check weld deposit during operation both visually and with gauges for quality and proper size. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSIITON WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as:
* Applying a variety of manual welding processes to make more difficult welds, including welds in hard to reach areas.
* Planning and laying out work from blueprints, sketches, drawing, specifications, and work orders.
* Operating various types of electrical arc-welding and cutting equipment by the manual, semi automatic methods, such as gas-metal-arc, gas-tungsten-arc, submerged-arc, manual-metal arc welding, plasma-arc cutting, arc-air-gouging, and more.
* Determining the welding method to use, and selecting the right material to use, such as electrodes, filler-wire, flux, and etc.
* Understanding and applying applicable safety rules and regulations. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
