Friendship Academy is looking for a reliable, flexible, and caring Floater Teacher Assistant to join our team! This position works with children across all age groups—from infants and toddlers to preschool, pre-K, and school-age children.

Currently, we operate one location in Klamath Falls, Oregon, where we proudly provide high-quality childcare and preschool services to approximately 100 families.

Description

Friendship Academy is looking for a reliable, flexible, and caring Floater Teacher Assistant to join our team! This position works with children across all age groups—from infants and toddlers to preschool, pre‑K, and school‑age children.

The ideal candidate enjoys variety, works well as part of a team, and is comfortable stepping into different classrooms throughout the day based on the needs of the children and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for children.
  • Float between classrooms to provide coverage and support while maintaining appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
  • Follow the direction of classroom teachers and the School Director.
  • Interact positively with children and treat each child with dignity and respect.
  • Participate in children's play, learning activities, meals, snacks, and daily routines.
  • Assist children with clothing, grooming, health habits, toileting, and other age-appropriate needs.
  • Recognize and respond to children's individual social, emotional, developmental, and educational needs.
  • Assist teachers with implementing Friendship Academy's curriculum and educational programs.
  • Communicate observations and important information to teachers and the Director.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
  • Follow Friendship Academy safety, supervision, health, and licensing requirements.
  • Complete accident and incident reports as required.
  • Follow infant bottle-feeding and safe-sleep procedures when working with infants.
  • Assist with classroom cleaning, organization, and other duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to pass the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) background check and meet all applicable requirements for working in a child care facility.
  • Previous childcare or early childhood education experience preferred.
  • Education or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Must complete all required Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care training within required time frames.
  • Must complete 15 hours of professional development per licensing year related to early childhood education.
  • Must be able to follow Friendship Academy's Bottle-Feeding and Safe Sleep Procedures.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • CDA or other early childhood credential preferred.
Physical & Work Requirements

This position requires working both indoors and outdoors and may involve sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. The position may require lifting and carrying children and other classroom materials.
