Patient Access Rep – O H Neurology – FT DAYS
Location:
Sky Lakes Medical Center
Position:
Patient Access Representative providing front‑line support to patients and staff in a busy outpatient neurology setting.
- Perform department patient and visitor reception, directing patients to the appropriate location.
- Obtain and verify insurance and billing information; accurately process all insurance types.
- Audit charts daily for completeness and accuracy; complete follow‑ups within required time and forward to appropriate personnel.
- Prepare paperwork used during patient care in a timely manner.
- Maintain >95% accuracy on all data entry tasks.
- Contact appropriate people when office equipment repair is needed.
- Maintain close working relationships with ancillary clinical departments and physician’s offices.
- Attend meetings, support future directions of the division, and communicate improvements through direct contact with supervisor.
- Train and orient new department clerical staff.
- Communicate effectively, both in person and on the telephone, and work with a variety of personality types.
- Handle stress and pressure, and make decisions.
- Understand, support, and comply with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Sky Lakes Medical Center.
- Maintain competency in all position responsibilities.
- Demonstrate competence in relation to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan via proficiency testing, skill demonstration, core standards for service excellence, and documentation review.
- Demonstrate awareness of age‑specific, cultural, spiritual, functional status, and physical needs of customers while performing job tasks.
- Medical or clerical experience.
- 50 WPM keyboard skills.
- Excellent spelling, math, problem‑solving skills.
- Filing skills.
- Telephone skills and data entry.
- Ability to work independently and with co‑workers, and communicate effectively with patients and professionals.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and pay attention to detail.
- Medical terminology knowledge.
- Limited ICD‑9 coding knowledge.
- Medium physical demand level required.
- Must accommodate a fast, efficient pace.
- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
- Must lift up to 40 lbs and push a wheelchair up to 250 lbs.
- Assist patient in and out of a chair, wheelchair, or automobile, and ride in an elevator.
- Good hearing and legible handwriting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
