• Good communication skills both verbally and written.
• Complete necessary patient documentation.

• Maintain and enforce strict patient confidentiality and respect patient and family rights.
• Willingness to take additional courses as requested.

Must be physically able to frequently stoop, bend, reach, and lift 50 pounds or more; varied activities most frequently sitting without falling asleep; remain calm under stressful situations; follow universal precautions for infection control; maintain knowledge and practice of safe body mechanics.

• Maintain patient safety from self and environment.
• Complete skills check list and Age Appropriate Competencies as per Sky Lakes policy and procedures.
• Assist the patient with meals, feeding, and ambulating; activities of daily living per instructions from the RN.

• Maintain documentation of behavior observations and safety concerns and report to RN.
• Give clear simple directions to patient(s), reinforce teaching and orientation to patient.
• Use verbal de-escalation techniques to redirect patients.
• Follow direction from the RN about safety for the patient and the environment of care.

• Recognize and report abnormal observations.
• Monitor and adjust environment to maintain safety in the environment of care.
• Know the fire plan and escape routes for patient and self.
• Demonstrate competence by ongoing completion of proficiency testing, skill demonstration, practice of core standards for service excellence.
• Provide patient care and perform tasks using job skills and growth and develop knowledge specific to the patient’s age and/or developmental level.
• Assess physical needs and functional status of the patient in order to provide patient care.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
