Volunteer Ombudsman role in the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. This position involves working with residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult foster homes to advocate for their rights and dignity, and to help ensure their concerns are heard and resolved.
OverviewAs a volunteer Ombudsman, you will visit residents, listen to their concerns, resolve complaints, and advocate for their rights. You don’t need a special degree—just a compassionate heart, a listening ear, and a desire to make a difference. A few hours of your time each week can have a meaningful impact on someone who may feel invisible, forgotten, or unheard.
Responsibilities- Visit residents in long-term care facilities to listen to concerns and experiences.
- Advocate for residents’ rights and work to resolve complaints or issues with care and service delivery.
- Collaborate with staff, families, and the Ombudsman program to improve resident well-being and safety.
- No specific degree required; a compassionate heart, listening skills, and a commitment to helping others.
- Ability to work in a team and maintain residents’ dignity and confidentiality.
