Produce Clerk

About the Role

This position maintains the produce department, ensuring cleanliness, quality, and a welcoming customer experience. Work shifts are 6‑8 hours, varying from 4:00 am to 11:00 pm.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous service to customers and internal staff.
• Maintain an organized, eye‑appealing display of fresh produce.
• Handle receiving duties: verify orders, report shortages, price, and mark merchandise, and maintain storage areas.
• Perform merchandising tasks: build displays, rotate stock, discard spoiled goods, and ensure proper pricing and signage.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Act with honesty and integrity, performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication) and ability to compute weights and measures.
• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Food Handlers Certification (as required by state law).

Ability to

• Work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Conduct visual inspections of product and display.
• Communicate effectively in writing.
• Lift and maneuver objects up to 50 lb. frequently.
• Operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely.
• Stand for long periods, walk, bend, twist, and move frequently.
• Wear protective gear such as hats, hairnets, gloves, and other PPE.
• Learn and comply with state and company safety and sanitation procedures.

Machines and Equipment Operated

• Knives, wrappers, scales, compactors, garbage disposals, hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklift, and ladder.
