Imperial Recruitment is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction business delivering projects across the renewables and retrofit sectors. Role Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of a portfolio of construction, retrofit, and renewable energy projects. You will manage cost control, forecasting, procurement, and financial reporting, ensuring the delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
You will play a key role within a major framework valued at over £900 million over four years, providing the opportunity to lead commercially on significant, long-term projects that shape the future of sustainable construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and negotiating tenders, contracts, and commercial documentation
- Leading on cost planning, measurement, and valuation of works
- Managing project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow throughout the project lifecycle
- Identifying, assessing, and managing variations, claims, and risks
- Chairing and attending client and subcontractor meetings to agree valuations, forecasts, and commercial progress
- Preparing and submitting monthly client applications and ensuring timely payment
- Managing subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and performance
- Producing contractual notices and payment recommendations
- Supporting project teams with cost analysis, value engineering, and commercial strategy
- Providing commercial insight and reporting to the senior management team
Essential Experience and Skills
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, retrofit, or renewable energy sectors
- Strong grounding in cost management, procurement, and contract administration
- Working knowledge of JCT contracts (other forms of contract advantageous)
- Strong technical understanding of M&E and construction processes
- Ability to interpret and analyse construction drawings and specifications
- Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and IT skills (experience with NSR or similar preferred)
- Commercially aware with a proactive, solution-driven approach
- Full UK driving licence
