Be part of a team putting safety, sustainability and best practice at the heart of everything we do. At Thalia Waste Management, we’re looking for an HSEQ Adviser to join our site-based team at Allerton Waste Recovery Park, supporting a highly regulated, complex operational environment.

Reporting into the Compliance Manager, you’ll be part of a small on‑site HSEQ team of three, supported by Thalia’s central HSEQ function. This is a hands‑on, visible role where you’ll work closely with operational teams to promote best practice, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement across Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on site, building strong relationships, and making a real difference day to day.
What You’ll Be Doing- Supporting the delivery of site HSEQ arrangements in a regulated environment
- Carrying out inspections, audits and safety tours, reporting findings and actions
- Investigating incidents, near misses and close calls
- Developing and reviewing Risk Assessments, RAMS and Safe Systems of Work
- Delivering toolbox talks and basic HSEQ training
- Supporting compliance with Environment Agency permits and ISO standards
- Promoting a positive safety culture and Thalia’s Zero Code
- Monitoring performance data and producing clear HSEQ reports
- NEBOSH General Certificate (completed or working towards)
- Experience in a regulated, operational or high‑risk environment
- Strong working knowledge of H&S legislation
- Confident communicator, able to influence and support teams at all levels
- Organised, proactive and comfortable working independently on site
- A collaborative team player with a practical, solutions‑focused mindset
- Experience in waste, energy, industrial or manufacturing environments is desirable but not essential
- Entry into Company bonus scheme – up to 5%

We operate the best technology available across our four strategic sites in North Yorkshire, Milton Keynes, Cambridgeshire and the Isle of Wight. Our technology includes everything from mechanical and biological treatment, traditional mass‑burn energy from waste and material recycling technologies to in‑vessel composting, advanced thermal treatment, innovative small‑scale energy from waste and anaerobic digestion. In a single year we process 300,000 tonnes of waste that is turned into energy.
This generates the same amount of energy as approximately 600 million solar panels. Similarly we recycle circa 95,000 tonnes of waste.
