Senior Machinery Safety Consultant

We are seeking an experienced, highly competent Senior Machinery Safety Consultant to lead our high-level functional safety and compliance projects. Acting as a technical authority, you will take full ownership of Phase 1 design risk assessments and functional safety specifications, hold independent Technical Construction File (TCF) publishing sign-off authority, and lead client-facing compliance projects from initial scoping through to final UKCA / CE certification.

This is a senior position designed to provide immediate technical leadership, mentor junior consulting staff, and act as a peer review authority within our ISO 9001 QMS framework.

Hours:

40hrs / week.

Offset travel model:
Beyond reasonable travel to client site’s accrued in 1-for-1 Time Off in Lieu (TOIL). Holiday allowance: 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays + extra day off for your Birthday (34 days total).

• HAZOP studies:
  Lead multidisciplinary Hazard and Operability Studies (BS EN 61882) for complex or integrated machinery lines to identify process risks during early project scoping.
• Design Risk Assessments (DRA):
  Author comprehensive, full-lifecycle risk evaluations in accordance with BS EN ISO 12100 across all machine life phases, establishing required risk reduction measures using the hierarchy of control.
• Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS):
  Author detailed Functional Safety Requirements Specifications (under BS EN ISO 13849) to define required performance levels (PLr), control architecture categories, safe states, manual reset behaviours, and fault reactions.
• SRP/CS reviews:
  Conduct technical design reviews of safety-related parts of control systems (SRP/CS) and review client/OEM Hardware Design Specifications (HDS) and schematics.
