Job Overview

Starting salary £12.21 per hour with a 50p per hour enhancement. The pay rises to £12.41 after successful completion of probation, and to £12.60 after a further 12 months in post.

The Boroughbridge Road service assists clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We require enthusiastic, caring individuals to take clients out to the seaside, coffee shops and other day‑trip destinations. Shifts include days, nights and sleep‑ins.

As a Support Worker you will provide high‑quality care and support to enable clients to live their best life. You will be passionate about making a difference to clients’ lives, helping them to fulfil their aspirations and ambitions. This homely service is set in Knaresborough (HG5). Holding a UK driving licence is desirable. We have two part‑time posts available.

*£12.71 per hour is a supplement rate, which is regularly reviewed. The standard hourly rate is £12.21. Please be aware that this rate can be withdrawn at any time.*

Main Duties of the Job
  • Person‑Centred – Prepare person‑centred support plans with clients that reflect their views and aspirations, reviewing and amending them as necessary.
  • Respectful – Support clients to fulfil their aspirations and live as independently as possible. This may include accompanying them on social visits and events, supporting them with interests and hobbies, promoting choice and arranging activities and outings.
  • Open – Communicate in an open and transparent way with clients and other team members, acting with integrity and following through on commitments.
  • Understanding – Provide personal care to clients in a way that respects their choices and dignity, including assistance with washing and toileting when required.
  • Dedicated – Keep accurate records, including daily notes, with full involvement of the client.

Job Description and Main Responsibilities
  • Provide appropriate level of care and support in accordance with the care plan, including personal care.
  • Maintain accurate written and numerical records.
  • Undertake a wide range of personal care and domestic duties specific to each service.
  • Meet the physical requirements of the role, including climbing stairs, using hoists, moving people, and night work. Adjustments are considered in line with the Equality Act where criteria cannot be met due to a disability.
  • Use computer packages such as Word, Outlook and the Internet, and undertake relevant training and qualifications in care if required.
  • Work cooperatively as a team member.
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with carers, families, inspectors and other external stakeholders.
  • Hold a UK driving licence.

  • Previous experience working in care (employment or carer at home).
Qualifications

Essential criteria:

  • Care Certificate or willingness to undertake a Care Certificate.
  • Current driver licence.
