Position Purpose

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, and they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers!

The Driver, Hourly CDL-A is responsible for driving a tractor‑trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over‑the‑road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive‑and‑drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food‑related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). The driver communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co‑workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and promptly.

The driver acts as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Report all safety hazards and inspect the trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices of loaded products. Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach the preloaded trailer as needed.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route delivery schedule. Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact the supervisor if orders need to be removed according to company policy. Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures. Collect money (cash or checks) where required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors. Ensure the tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring them to the driver check‑in, and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from the trailer as required.
  • Complete a daily record of hours of service and enter it in the log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required. At the end of the shift, secure equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 1+ years commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL‑A, must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years
  • Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or hold a valid current DOT Health Card and/or be able to secure a new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand‑lift and use two‑wheelers, lift gates, and other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight ranging from 10–35 pounds to 60–90 pounds.
