Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk – FT at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics
Join to apply for the Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk – FT role at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. This Full‑Time position works two 12‑hour shifts (6 pm – 6:30 am) and one 12‑hour shift (7 pm – 7:30 am) with every third weekend. The role is part of the nursing care team under the direction of RNs/LPNs and involves both patient care and clerical support.

Essential Functions- Promptly answer telephone calls and route them appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Consistently demonstrate competence and proficiency in ward clerk responsibilities and procedures.
- Provide nutritional and hydration support and assist patients with personal hygiene and elimination needs.
- Consistently demonstrate awareness and understanding of patient needs for personal care and comfort.
- Take and record temperatures and other vital signs, reporting any abnormal values to appropriate staff.
- Assist nurses with treatments and procedures as directed, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assume responsibility for patient belongings and personal property.
- Demonstrate responsibility for cost containment and ensure all patient charges are properly recorded.
- Strictly follow and enforce infection control standards.
- Maintain health testing requirements.
- Maintain current certifications/training in BCLS and complete required competencies annually.
- Attend unit meetings and in‑services or read minutes.
- Adhere to KHC compliance policies.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certification from a minimum 75‑hour nurse aide course and passed CNA testing upon hire.
- Previous patient care, telephone, clerical, and computer experience required.
- Current BCLS certification; must read, write, and follow written or oral instructions.
- Current mandatory reporter designation or acquire within three months of hire.
- Display a high degree of empathetic understanding and kindness toward patients and visitors.
- Accept direction from nursing supervisors.
- Exhibit a friendly attitude and excellent customer service skills.
- Complete all annual competency training and maintain license and/or certification.
