CEI Inspector - Utilities

Work Location:

Atlanta, GA

Salary:
Based on experience, will be discussed with manager in interview.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret roadway and structure plans, contract specifications, schedules, and quantities.
  • Monitor contractor’s on-site construction activities and perform inspections to ensure conformance to project plans and specifications; document the process.
  • Prepare daily field reports.
  • Ensure quality assurance is met for the project.
  • Meet scheduling and attendance requirements.
  • Understand and interpret schematic drawings.
  • Work on interstate widening projects that require utility monitoring.
  • Inspect installation of all utilities on the project.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of related work experience in utilities inspection as part of an interstate improvement project.
  • Experience with GDOT manuals, specifications and protocols.
  • Familiarity with traffic control plans including traffic shifts, detours, lane closures or other activities that disrupt traffic flow.
  • Knowledge of the properties, characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of materials used in construction.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Familiarity with GDOT Utility Coordination procedures during construction.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments.
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Subject to variable climate and environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
