Responsibilities- Coordinating with client and Mesa engineers, various engineering disciplines, local county and state regulatory bodies, and other parties involved to produce the necessary drawing packages.
- Design of substation steel supports, foundations, and other civil and structural tasks associated with substation design.
- Perform structural analysis and design of substation steel and concrete elements (transformer and equipment foundations, control building foundations, oil containment, cable trenches, support structures, steel framing, and switch rack design).
- Prepare calculations and sealed design deliverables, develop construction drawings and specifications, and review shop drawings.
- Apply relevant codes and standards (ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NESC/IEEE as applicable).
- Use industry software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA/SAP
2000, AutoCAD/Micro Station/Revit) and coordinate with project teams to support timely, constructible designs.
- B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering (M.S. a plus)
- 1–5 years of relevant experience; utility/substation experience strongly preferred but not required
- EIT or working toward PE licensure
- Strong technical writing, organization, and communication skills
- Proactive problem-solving ability and capability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
- Occasional site visits and construction support; opportunities for professional development and mentorship
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university
- 1 to 5 years’ experience
- Professional Engineer (PE), desirable but not required
