Senior Telecommunications Engineers work on various projects as assigned by a Department Manager or Lead Engineer, playing a role in the entire design process including, but not limited to:
Responsibilities- Preliminary assessments
- Concept creation
- Internal and external problem resolution
- Drawing and specification production
- Customer and vendor accessibility
- Being the EoR for designs
- Providing coverage for project leads
- Depending on bandwidth, may lead projects
- Delivering projects on time
- Leading BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings
- DIV 27 specification creation or modification
- Conducting site visits
- Reviewing technical documents
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Signing and sealing telecommunications design packages
- Mentoring other team members
- Working with lead engineer and/or department manager to identify processes to make the department run more efficiently
- Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college
- Minimum 8 years of experience actively designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems
- Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70 and how it applies to telecommunications structured cabling systems
- Proficiency with Bluebeam
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers and clients
- Excellent project management skills
- Familiarity with responding to RFPs
- Experience in providing quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others
- Experience with start‑up and commissioning of telecommunications systems
- Experience creating and maintaining a project budget
- Experience creating and maintaining a project schedule
- Experience identifying and mitigating company risk
- PE license; ability to obtain multiple PE licenses is required
- 4 years of telecommunications design experience in data centers
- Experience working on other low‑voltage systems, including security, audio/visual and wireless
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for control systems and security systems
- Thorough knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures
- Credential as an RCDD
