DescriptionLokar Performance Products seeks a confident and capable, mid‑to‑senior level Design / Manufacturing Engineer, who is passionate about improving legacy components and assemblies and creating the manufacturing fixtures and assembly processes to produce them. As the Design / Manufacturing Engineer at Lokar, you will help sustain, improve, and manage the quality and manufacturing aspects of existing products, and develop and manage the processes that bring new aftermarket automotive offerings to market.
Working closely with our CEO, product engineering, tech support, manufacturing, sales, and sourcing, you will have the freedom to take on projects autonomously, avoiding endless meetings, and achieve impressive product and process improvements. The ideal candidate is a likable and self‑sufficient individual with strong Solid Works skills, abundant DIY technical experience, and a devotion to quality and detail. They will thrive without micro‑management, yet remain open to collaboration with coworkers and suppliers.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Join the team and communicate effectively with coworkers.
- Become the go‑to engineer for all quality and manufacturing matters.
- Improve, create, and fully document manufacturing processes for superior products.
- Manage product changes and change introductions into manufacturing.
- Perform quality inspections for incoming and outgoing components and assemblies.
- Assist with concept generation and mapping necessary process plans as part of the Product Development Team.
- Collaborate with product engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing to prototype builds and develop tooling, processes, and documentation for efficient production of new components and assemblies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electro‑mechanical, or related engineering.
- Product and process design experience with machined parts, injection‑molded components, castings, basic electrical circuits, and mild to moderately complex mechanisms.
- Hands‑on experience and the intellect to build, repair, modify, and disassemble components.
- Logical and efficient CAD modeling skills (Solid Works preferred); proficiency with planes, centerlines, relations, embedded equations, and choice of revolve or extrusion.
- Experience with Pro‑E/Creo or Inventor to transition quickly to Solid Works.
- Applying best drafting practices and familiarity with Y14 practices, including GD&T.
- Translating design intent into efficient processes, tooling, and detailed drawings.
- Safe use of basic hand tools; experience with milling, turning, or welding is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
